Two remain in critical condition.

Six hundred partygoers were evacuated from Mangle E8 early this morning (April 17) after a man sprayed acid on the crowd. Twelve have been reported injured.

According to the BBC, “officers believe a man threw acid at two men after a dispute between two groups inside the venue,” but the Metropolitan police says there is no evidence it was related to gang activity. The attack leaves two in critical, but stable, condition at the hospital. Ten others were treated for minor injuries.

“It happened so fast – they rushed people out. I thought it was a stabbing because all I heard was ‘move, move, move – move out of the area’,” a woman who lives in a housing block overlooking the club told the BBC. “The security were telling the crowd to go down that way – people on this side were waiting to go home but they couldn’t go home because the road was closed. People were confused.”

No arrests have been made at this time.
