Four Tet recently released his ninth solo album, New Energy. The veteran producer doesn’t use a lot of gear: just a laptop, soundcard and simple Novation MIDI keyboard, but the view from his studio is enviable.

Four Tet’s studio is proof that you don’t need a studio full of hardware, a fancy MIDI controller or a modular synth to make music – just a space that inspires you. It wasn’t long before his tweet proclaiming as much spawned its own meme, with people from around the world sharing photos of their own ‘studio’.

Four Tet seems to be embracing the joke, at least.
