Dr. Dre and Ice Cube have been caught up in Suge Knight’s courtroom saga.

The former Death Row boss has been in prison since being arrested over a fatal hit-and-run in Compton on January 29. Knight allegedly ran over his friend Terry Carter in a burger joint parking lot which was the set of a promotional shoot for the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

Knight is still facing murder charges, but now Carter’s wife and children have filed a lawsuit claiming that Knight, along with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, hired known gang members to provide security for location shoots in Compton neighbourhoods.

As TMZ reports, the suit claims some of the gang members incited a fight and threatened Knight, who then reversed through the parking lot at speed. The Carter family is also suing Tam’s Burgers, claiming violent crimes take place regularly in that parking lot and the burger company should have had security.

Knight is still in jail and has been suffering from deteriorating health. The trailer for Straight Outta Compton appeared in April.
