Earlier this year, we reported that Panasonic’s reboot of the Technics SL-1200G would be on sale in late September, but now, at the end of October it’s finally available to purchase. The price of the legendary turntable is still $4000 in the US and £2,799 in the UK, which is stacked so high due to a complete redesign and new manufacturing process.

In February, Technics’ chief technology officer Tetsuya Itani told What Hi-Fi that “because the original 1210 turntables were manufactured for so many years, the manufacturing process had got to a very low cost… Now we need to invest in all the tools again, and the price now is much higher than the 1970s.”

You can purchase a brand new turntable at one of these retailers. The price may be steep, but it’s much better than going vintage.
