FACT magazine and Lower End Spasm present the 10th installment of Night Slugs, London’s premier night for heavy bass, gutter house and everything in between.
It’ll be the second Night Slugs all-nighter at Egg, King’s Cross, as part of the club’s Always Fridays series, it goes on from 10 til 6, and is headlined by Geeneus. The long-time owner of London’s leading pirate station Rinse FM, Geeneus is one of UK funky’s leading producers, and last year’s Geeneus Vol 1 EP is one of the best releases the sound has lent its name to to date. He’s also maybe the best DJ in the scene, with sets that draw links between modern UK house and its legacy in both this country and abroad, and garage favourites thrown in for good measure.
Support comes from Spyro, arguably the best DJ regularly appearing on Rinse. He made his name as one of the quickest DJs in grime, along with Maximum and Mac 10, but now plays across the UK bass spectrum, with trademark rapidfire mixing and cutting on CD-Js. Ben UFO, the Hessle Audio co-founder who’s renowned as one of dubstep’s most inventive DJs and label bosses also plays, along with Kingdom, a Brooklyn DJ whose Lower End Spasm podcast we’d heavily recommend. As usual, residents Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 (who both have singles on the way, on Dress 2 Sweat and Mad Decent) will be playing a mix of their own bass-heavy edits and original productions, and the best of garage, grime, bassline and more.
It all happens Friday 19 June, and entry is free before eleven.
