Presumably their recent hotel openings in Edinburgh and Kuwait have given Famiglia Missoni cause for celebration, not to mention self-congratulation, as this retrospective looks at the not inconsiderable life and times of one of Italy’s most venerable fashion houses. Expect a behind-the-scenes look at the label and its penchant for riotous colour, as well as that famous zig-zag knit, and their sources of inspiration, drawn both from the natural environment and from Europe’s modernist era.

Addressing the tensions between craft and fine art, Design High features the work of some of the most innovative established and emerging artists in the design art field, including Marc Quinn, Pablo Reinoso, Thierry Dreyfus, Vincent Dubourg and Sebastian Brajkovic. Debating whether art should be purely pretty or have some form of functionality, the exhibition will be complimented by a series of educational events, panel discussions, lectures and workshops.

Last chance to catch the latest from Ms. Emin, eulogising with surprising maturity on love and, yes, those who suffer for it. No suspiciously stained bedsheets here, though there is an animation made up of drawings of a woman masturbating. Come on, you didn’t think you’d get away from her bedroom antics completely, did you?

Celebrated choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui joins forces with Turner Prize-winning artist Antony Gormley to explore the philosophy and faith behind the Shaolin tradition, and its relationship with Kung Fu in China. 17 monks from the original Temple perform on 21 wooden boxes which continuously change – moving the action from a vast ocean, to the petals of a lotus flower, before smashing against each other with gut-wrenching force. Finish him!

Sculpture gets a bum rap most of the time. Despite being one of the most inventive artforms out there with perhaps the greatest potential for innovation and individuality, so often it doesn’t get the focus it deserves. Thankfully this new exhibition at the Whitechapel is out to change all that. Bringing everything from Gilbert and George postcards and the inimitable Ian Hamilton Finlay to the New Sculptors and the turntable-licious Ruchard Wilson, this is a tour of modern sculpture in one perfectly cast package.
