The latest limited edition from The Vinyl Factory is by Angola’s DJ Znobia.
Working in collaboration with Enchufada, The Vinyl Factory has pressed up this five-track single 12" release using the legendary EM1400 press, on super heavyweight 200g vinyl for optimum sound quality.
DJ Znobia is one of the godfathers of the kuduro sound made by famous by his friends Buraka Som Sistema. Diplo, Radioclit and M.I.A. have all pointed DJ Znobia as the driving force for a new Kuduro sound from within Angola, citing his mix of ancient rhythms and computer methodology; Africa’s past, present and future can be glimpsed in his urgent, unpredictable work.
For this release he presents two original and super-grity party jams, ‘Me Batem’ and ‘Ponto’. Three remixes of ‘Me Batem’ feature, including one by Buraka.
Once you’ve purchased a copy you can choose your own unique hand-painted sleeve for it; 400 individual designs are available, so the earlier the order the more choice you’ll have. The sleeves have been hand-painted by Buraka collaborator Mekwa and Target, a young and talented Portuguese street artist who tends to explore the clash between aself-made cartoon reality and an urban environment.
The Vinyl Factory is responsible for an ever-expanding range of deluxe vinyl products, crafting special editions for the likes of Die Verboten, Primal Scream, Pet Shop Boys and Monkey: Journey To The West. Click here for more information.
