Glasgow’s Hudson Mohawke, part of the new school of hip-hop trailblazers along with Rustie, Flying Lotus and more, has revealed the artwork for Butter, his debut album for Warp Records. That’s it, above.
We’re not saying we’d put it on the front of our LP (though rest assured, there’s little chance Warp will be signing up members of the FACT office any time soon), but it’s pretty good. The worst type of album sleeves are ones that try desperately to be cool and aren’t – Hud Mo shoots for geeky and colourful and ends up looking very cool indeed. Good job.
Oh, and you can now download a sampler of the entire record, along with individual streams of tracks ‘Rising 5’ and ‘Joy Fantastic’, at Warp’s website [Edit: If Warp’s site tells you the page isn’t found, simply click on Hudson Mohawke – Butter Snips, about half way down the page] . What are you waiting for, God?
