Dananananaykroyd (does anyone bother checking they’ve got the amount of Dans right anymore? We don’t) have announced an October tour for the UK. Like the twee little shits they are, they’re calling it the Hugtober ’09 tour.
For the uninininininitiated, Dananan are a Scottish pop band who have had about a billion combined members and who came to fame on account of their massively enjoyable live shows and their debut album, Hey Everyone, which us at FACT rather enjoyed. They’ve now played Reading and Leeds, toured with the Kaiser Chiefs, and released a pair of cracking 7"s – this, however, doesn’t give anyone an excuse to use the word Hugtober in any context, and if they keep this up we’ll turn on them quicker than you can say Does It Offend You Yeah? Consider this a warning.
They’ll be joined on tour by Dinosaur Pile Up, a Leeds rock band gathering a decent amount of press in their own right. Oh, and if you fancy designing a Dananananposter, then be the band’s guest. They’re asking fans to design something which features the name of the tour and the dates, and are encouraging them to be "as creative and interesting as they want." The winner gets a bag of swag including a signed CD of the album, both 7"s, a t-shirt and passes to every show on the tour. Entries can be sent to hugtober@googlemail.com and the deadline is October 5. Full tour dates can be found over the page.
