We’ve been a bit heavy on the Honest Jon’s-related posts recently, but as long as the West London label continues to present the world with killer records, we’ll keep writing about them.

HJs latest offering is a trio of remastered 12″s showcasing tracks from Unity, the UK’s greatest digital reggae label. The Unity sound has previously been celebrated on the fantastic Moritz von Oswald-mastered Watch How The People Dancing: Unity Sounds From The London Dancehall 1986-1989 compilation, but it’s great to have some of the strongest cuts each remastered and given a full fat pressing as vinyl singles, complete with tasty new sleeves by Will Bankhead.

Selah Collins’ utterly joyous ‘Pick A Sound’ – a long-time favourite in the FACT office – appears on one 12″ alongside a version that emhasizes the tough, swinging Jammys-inspired production, and is backed with Errol Bellet’s What A Wonderful Feeling’. Next up Richie Davis’s immaculately sung ganja disquisition ‘Lean Boot’, backed with Mikey Murka’s ‘Ride The Rhythm’ and versions of both.

Last but not least, Kenny Knots’ ‘Watch How The People Dancing’ (in original, version and ‘dubplate’ forms) with Mikey Murka’s ‘We Try’ (and version).

If you’ve been enjoying the kind of DJ sets that Rhythm & Sound’s Mark Ernestus had been playing these past few years, or if you just want to hear digital dancehall at its sweet, swaggering best, you need to get these three 12″s in your life.
