Today we premiere a remix of The xx’s ‘Crystalised’ by Jamie Jones that transports the breathy pop minimalism of the original into bumping Chicago house territory.

The xx require little introduction at this point; their debut album, XX, from which the original ‘Crystalised’ is taken, has just been nominated for 2010 Mercury Music Prize, further cementing their reputation.

Jamie Jones will be well-known to followers of house and techno. The brains behind DJs Can Dance and a regular fixture at Matthew Styles’ now legendary Dig Your Own Rave parties at London’s T-Bar back in the mid-noughties, Jones’ recording debut arrived in the shape of ‘Amazon’ (Freak N Chic, 2006), and he has continued to evolve his style over several releases for that label as well as Crosstown Rebels, BPitch Control and more recently Wolf+Lamb and Hot Creations.

Last year he released an electro-influenced album, Do You Remember The Future, that spawned the block-shocking Egyptian Lover collaboration ‘Galactic Space Bar’. 2010 has seen Jones focus on edits and remixes both under his birth-name and the more flamboyant Electric Jones handle.
