It’s no secret that FACT has a soft spot for The Chap (pictured). Athough their sense of humour understandably jars with many, there’s an honesty to the band’s berserk pop creations that we’ll take over macho rock ‘n roll posturing any day.

Their new album Well Done Europe finds them expanding on the lean, propulsive sound of its masterful predecessor, Mega Breakfast, and the latest single to be taken from it is called ‘Even Your Friend’. It’s due out later this month courtesy of Lo Recordings, bolstered with remixes by Ghostape and Teengirl Fantasy.

You also may have noticed us going ape for Teengirl Fantasy; we’ve been following their work with interest for some time now, but their new, Love Committee-sampling track ‘Cheaters’ (reviewed here) represents a quantum leap forward forward for the American duo, and has made their imminent debut album one of the year’s most anticipated releases. Their remix of The Chap’s ‘Even Your Friend’ is no less extraordinary: although it’s a less brisk, more reflective (even Balearic-tinged) kind of synth jam, its quietly epic arrangement and tom-heavy rhythm nonetheless point, like ‘Cheaters’, to the heyday of starlit Chicago house.
