2010 sees the return of Liverpool’s finest synth-pop outfit, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark.
The band are set to release a new album, History Of Modern, at a time when their influence on new music is more apparent than ever – the likes of LCD Soundsystem, The Killers and The xx all claim to be inspired by OMD’s darkly romantic 80s work, and you can hear its traces in more underground offerings from the likes of Villa Nah and Xeno & Oaklander as well.
The band’s new single ‘If You Want It’ has now been remixed to marvellous effect by young Dalston upstarts Teeth. They keep Andy McLuskey’s vocals on a tight leash, instead focussing on the original track’s burbling synths, and rearranging them into a shimmying disco-punk groove.
