White Car have a new EP, No Better, out on September 28 via the excellent Hippos In Tanks label.
It’s the follow-up to Elon Katz and Orion Martin’s self-titled debut 12″, which was released earlier this year on Rainbow Body Records, and comprises four tracks of torrid synth-pop steeped in the tradition and sonic signifiers of industrial and EBM, not to mention the rougher strains of Chicago house which that music inspired. A mixtape that the duo recorded for Vice back in January candidly maps out their their 80s influences: Coil, Ministry, Severed Heads, Borghesia, Portion Control et al.
No Better, memorably described by the Hippos In Tanks as “hard, humourous and cunning” is already available digitally (here), with the limited edition, numbered 12″ vinyl hitting stores next week. As many of you will already know, Daniel Lopatin AKA Oneohtrix Point Never has made a video to accompany the EP’s title track; check it out below.
