You probably know about J Dilla’s ties to Detroit techno; how he used to produce with Omar-S, so on and so forth.
Well the latest release on hometown label Hipnotech is a formally unreleased cut from Dilla’s weighty archives, co-produced with Slum Village’s DJ Dez – someone house music fans may know best as Andres, after his sublime II album on Kenny Dixon Jr’s Mahogani Music last year.
The 12” single is vocalled by Da Enna C (or Da Enna Cirkle), the first ever group to release a J Dilla production back in 1994. The A-side, ‘True to Rap’(remix) is the one produced by Dilla and Andres; B-side ‘Pack da House, originally released on Magnum Records, is Dilla flying solo, and appears here with additional unreleased mixes.
Quantities are strictly limited, so act fast.
