We’ve been itching to hear a track from Shake’s forthcoming album on Wild Oats.

The hookup between the Detroit maverick under his Da Sampla alias and young gun Kyle Hall’s label – which we reported here – was always going to produce good things. Now Boiler Room are streaming a track from the release which only serves to confirm our suspicions.

‘Pursuit Mix 3’ occupies the darker end of the Shake spectrum, but still features the rough-grained groove that only time-worn samples and knackered old machines can produce. When the kick comes in, wreathed in the warm crunch of tape distortion, we know exactly where we’re at. The album, West Side Sessions, is due out at the end of the month.
