In a former life, Odd Future associate Frank Ocean made music under the name Lonny Breaux.

Ocean’s work under the Breaux alias has been previously available in the 63-track fan comp The Lonny Breaux Collection. As Prefix note, an unheard remnant from the Breaux days has now emerged online, titled ‘PDA’.

The track dates all the way back to 2009, when Ocean toiled away as a label backroom boy and songwriter for hire. ‘PDA’ was originally written for the Backstreet Boys’ 2009 album This Is Us; the extant Breaux version is Ocean’s reference track for that song. As you might expect from that context, it’s both treaclier and cheaper than much of Ocean’s later work. Nonetheless, it’s an interesting bit of juvenilia, although one that won’t have you mourning the demise of Lonny Breaux too forcefully.
