After three years in the job, NME head honcho Krissi Murison is moving onto pastures new.

As The Guardian report, Murison is set to jump ship to the rather more strait-laced The Sunday Times, where she’ll earn her bread as features editor. NME publishing director Emily Hutchings said “Everyone at NME is obviously sad to see a talent like Krissi go but due to her great achievements while working as editor she leaves NME in great health and the brand is stronger than ever.”

Murison was the first female NME editor. Her 2010 revamp of the magazine won her a lot of fans (this scribe included), if not readers: circulation continued to nosedive below the 30,000 mark during her tenure. Despite the shrinking readership, Murison was named best new editor at the 2010 British Society of Magazine Editors.

No successor has been announced as yet, but NME publishers IPC have promised an update in “due course”.
