If you haven’t heard of the London Pleasure Gardens yet, you certainly will have in a few months.

The new venue site is situated in East London, and can hold up to 35,000 revellers. BLOC are the first of no doubt many festivals to make use of the space. To celebrate, the Gardens will play host to a free festival on June 30, featuring a host of musical treats and diversions. LED-spotted venue The Dome will play host to dubstep ensemble Jazzsteppa, and will also host “DJ/vaudeville combo” Dutty Moonshine. The venue’s 6000 capacity Big Top will welcome old hands Alabama 3, reggae institution Musical Youth, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Dreadzone and Ska Cubano.

Other sideshows include urban performance, theatre, the ‘Sillympic Games’ and an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest hokey cokey. Ambitious indeed. Head to the London Pleasure Garden website for more information.
