September 15 sees the publication by Rizzoli of Punk: An Aesthetic.
The 336-page volume examines the visual side of punk and its enormous influence on the world around it, drawing on private and public archives of rare material from all over the the world, and featuring over 300 images by the likes of Jamie Reid, Crass, John Holmstrom and Linder Sterling. Accompanying essays come from Jon Savage (author of England’s Dreaming, still the definitive history of punk), noted collector and writer Johan Kugelberg, and William Gibson (cyberpunk progenitor and author of Neuromancer).
Kugelberg and Savage are also curating an exhibition of punk graphic design and imagery, featuring work by many of the artists featured in the book, at London’s Hayward Gallery. Someday All The Adults Will Die: Punk Graphics 1971-1984 is open September 13 – November 14.
