Tomorrow’s World is the dour new project from Air’s Jean-Benoit Dunckel.
The outfit, also featuring vocalist Lou Hayter (still best known for her work as part of indie-leaning electro group New Young Pony Club), made their inaugural appearance with ‘So Long My Love’ on Kitsuné’s Kitsuné Parisien II compilation earlier this year. The track is certainly musclier than most of Dunckel’s previous work with Air, layering detuned guitar and bit-crushed noise over a motorik beat. Hayter, meanwhile, does her best coldwave impression, cooing like it’s Belgium c. 1983.
‘So Long My Love’ is now set to get a limited vinyl release through The Vinyl Factory. Side A features two different versions of ‘So Long My Love’, whereas Side B features new track ‘Inside’. The disc arrives on heavyweight 180g vinyl, and will be limited to a first pressing of 500 copies. An album is set to follow later this year, with the pair promising music “informed by the likes of Factory Floor, Angelo Badalamenti and Lil Louis”.
‘So Long My Love’ is due on September 26. Click here to pre-order, or, alternatively, stream the track below.
