Hear DJ Kid Koala play the changes on new blues-inspired LP

Ninja Tune’s pre-eminent acetate mangler Kid Koala is back with his first album in six years.

Since 2000’s breakthrough LP Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, the turntablist has built up a discography of kooky cut’n’paste full-lengths, and a dedicated live following to boot. He’s a member of supposedly reactivated  supergroup Deltron 3030, along with Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Dan The Automator.

Koala’s just about to release a new LP, 12-Bit Blues. The album’s definitely got an interesting modus operandi: using only an E-mu SP-1200 sampler and a turntable, Koala improvises over classic blues frameworks in realtime. The album is now available to stream in full, and it’s an endearing little experiment. [via Exclaim]
