Soulful house sensei Osunlade is to return with a new LP

The St. Louis-born producer is a colourful proposition – a trained Yorùbá priest with a background as a composer for Sesame Street and a sideline as an art photographer. His music, too, is anything but greyscale, incorporating African polyrhythms and mystic sloganeering into a loose-limbed deep-house framework. Over the last decade plus, he’s clocked up releases on the likes of BBE, Strictly Rhythm and Soul Jazz. His last offering was 2012’s Osunlade In The House mix session, which placed a host of exclusive new cuts alongside material from the likes of Kevin Saunderson and Fink.

As Resident Advisor report, Osunlade will release his latest LP later this month. The Man With No Past Originating The Future will serve as the follow-up to 2011’s soupy Pyrography (from which ‘Happy’, included below, is taken), and features twelve new tracks.

The Man With No Past Originating The Future will arrive on January 28 through his own Yoruba Records. The album will principally be available on CD, but 100 copies of the record will also be produced on clear vinyl.
