"Outright fraudulent" Snoop Lion lambasted by Bunny Wailer

Bunny Wailer, original percussionist with Bob Marley & The Wailers, has taken aim at fairweather Rasta Snoop Lion.

Speaking to TMZ , Wailer has laid into the rapper-turned-toaster for cynically appropriating Rastafari culture. According to Wailer, the rapper’s behaviour constitutes “outright fraudulent use of Rastafari Community’s personalities and symbolism”. Wailer also suggests that Snoop has neglected to meet the “contractual, moral and verbal commitments” that come with the culture. Looks like we’re back in Dragonfly Jonez territory, then.

Rastafari group The Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council have also had a pop, penning a seven page letter of demands to the California native. The missive supposedly insists that Snoop give up the ‘Lion’ part of his moniker and issue a public apology for his behaviour. In the Council’s words: “smoking weed and loving Bob Marley and reggae music is not what defines the Rastafari Indigenous Culture!”.

Snoop Lion’s most recent transmission, ‘Lighters Up, is below.
