The beat tape will be available to inmates in the New York state prison system.
Long-time collaborators Prodigy and Alchemist will release the mixtape through Send A Package, a service that ships care packages to New York inmates. Keeping the needs of inmates in mind, the mixtape will be instrumental.
“I hated rhyming over other people’s beats,” Prodigy said in a statement; the rapper recently served a three-year prison sentence on gun possession charges. “I think this is a good thing that Send A Package is doing.”
The tape is expected to be released at some point in the summer. The Alchemist has produced tracks on all of Prodigy’s solo albums, and the pair have collaborated on Return of the Mac and the forthcoming Albert Einstein. [via HipHopDX]
