Vondelpark‘s Seabed didn’t exactly set our hearts aflame, but a new remix from John Roberts brings some depth and colour into play.

Roberts caught our attention with 2010’s excellent Glass Eights, a collection of rich, cobwebby house from the Dial camp. Follow-up Fences has just dropped, and shows Roberts switching up his sound substantially: the classical flourishes and air of romance remain, but these are tricksy compositions – knotty, complex, abrupt little things.

His remix of Vondelpark’s ‘Always Forever’, by contrast, sees Roberts keep things clean and simple, slopping extra layers of gloss onto Vondelpark’s brittle original. Click below to stream.
