100 megapixels and runnin’.

Travelling hip-hop carnival Rock The Bells kicked off its 10th edition last night with performances from the likes of Black Hippy, Tech N9ne and Chief Keef. The biggest star, however, was a somewhat less terrestrial proposition; as planned, Bone-Thugz-N-Harmony’s headline set boasted a cameo appearance from deceased NWA star Eazy-E, here represented in hologram form.

The group wheeled out the rapper – who passed away in 1995 – to perform verses from ‘Straight Outta Compton’, ‘Boyz-N-The-Hood’ and ‘Foe That Love Of $’. As per the Coachella 2012 Tupac hologram, we got some crowd banter (“What’s up LA?”) and a smattering of on-stage interaction with an old sparring partner – in this case, original NWA member DJ Yella. Eazy-E isn’t the only hologram set to make an appearance this weekend, with Wu-Tang Clan planning to resurrect Ol’ Dirty Bastard for their headline set tonight.

NWA’s classic debut Straight Outta Compton turns 25 this year; head here to discover eight things you never knew about gangsta rap’s great ürtext.
