Haven’t heard of Luscious Jackson? Don’t worry, nobody else has either, save a few blessed souls who happened to be in the right place at the right time back in the 1990s.

The NYC band were signed, for a time, to the Beastie Boys‘ now defunct Grand Royal imprint, and released a series of effortlessly charming jagged pop records, only to be totally ignored by almost anyone. Almost predictably the band split up in 2000 after releasing three full-lengths, but now they’re back, and those of us who actually cared back then can be found rubbing our hands in glee.

The band have put together a brand new album entitled Magic Hour thanks to the wonder of crowd funding, and its lead single ‘Show Us What You Got’ is a welcome return to the kind of fizzing, bubbly alternative pop that made us fall in love with them in the first place. It’s great to have them back, let’s just hope people actually notice this time around eh? [via Stereogum]
