Morrissey to release cover of Lou Reed's 'Satellite Of Love'

Moz does Lou.

Morrissey was one of many to play public tribute to Lou Reed following his death earlier this month, writing that the singer “will always be pressed to my heart. Thank God for those, like Lou, who move within their own laws, otherwise imagine how dull the world would be.”

By way of tribute to Reed, the former Smith will release a cover of 1972 Transformer standard ‘Satellite Of Love’. Moz’s take was recorded live at The Chelsea Ballroom in Las Vegas on November 25, 2011. The track will arrive as a digital download, bundled with ‘You’re Gonna Need Someone on Your Side’ and unreleased live tracks, and a limited 7″ picture disc edition will also hit shops on the same day.

The release will coincide with the audiobook of Morrissey’s wildly successful Autobiography, which will be read by Mancunian actor David Morrissey. The cover will be available from December 2, with the audiobook following on December 5. FACT’s own tribute to Reed’s life and work is here. [via NME]
