The people in charge of Bristol’s Blue Mountain Club have had their licences suspended, placing the club’s future in doubt.
Two inspections by the city council last year found that the Stokes Croft club, which has lately hosted DJs including Pariah, Joe and Paleman, to be seriously over-crowded and without an emergency evacuation procedure.
The total capacity for the venue is set at 300, but an inspection found 420 inside the club with an additional 50 to 60 ticketholders queuing outside.
Donald Oakley and Tania Mackenzie have had their personal licences suspended and been ordered to pay a total of £19,000 after admitting breaching licence conditions.
The six-month licence suspension means they can’t sell alcohol or act as the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) in any venue. No alcohol can be supplied or sold at the premises until an alternative personal licence holder is put in place. [via Bristol Post]
