The Shamen's Mr C to auction leather codpiece from 'Ebenezer Goode' TOTP performance

Own a piece of rave history.

The Shamen’s frontman Mr C is auctioning off the fetching leather cod piece he wore for the band’s 1992 Top of the Pops appearance, where they performed their nudge-nudge wink-wink number one hit ‘Ebenezer Goode’.

The highest bidder will get an extra gift as well, as Mr C explains on Facebook:

“Just before doing the first Top Of The Pops performance back in September 1992, I’d had some bad press from the Daily Star who were sensationalising the drug reference in their national daily smutty rag & also the indie inky Melody Maker had been running a weekly spoof attack on me as an annoying rapper (which many believe I was… lol). So I stuffed the cod piece with these 2 articles for the TOTP performance, which remain in the cod piece to this very day & will stay there as an exciting addition to this very sought after item.”

Also up for auction is an one-off print of the cover of Mr C’s Change album from 2002 and a Mr.C Smell The Coffee limited edition T-shirt. All the proceeds will go Cystic Fibrosis Trust, so dig deep! Bidding starts at £200 for the codpiece. [via The Ransom Note]
