The M_Rec label owner died after a short battle with cancer.

Real name Max Magrini, Max_M launched M_Rec in 2000, but it wasn’t until later in that decade that it started to regularly release records, with a busy schedule of digital releases and the introduction of M_REC LTD, a vinyl series that has housed music by Cassegrain, Forward Strategy Group and more.

Due to M_REC LTD’s success, Magrini was arguably best known as a label owner, but he was a renowned producer and DJ in his own right, and had been at his most productive in recent years (2015 has seen two Max_M 12″s, ‘Dissertation’ and ‘Toe Tag’).

Alessio ‘Freddy K’ Armeni, a techno veteran who’d worked closely with Magrini since the 90s, confirmed the news on Facebook:

Today is the saddest day of my life, this night my best friend ever passed away. Max (Max_M) has died from cancer that took him away in 3 weeks. He was my best friend for more than 20 years, we have shared the true friendship, we built so many things together, we have our secrets, we shared our little things, we shared our passion that has always unite us..the techno. A true my brother, I can only cry and cry. I’m happy just to have been there close to him until the last breath. Life is not fair. I’ll try to come back to myself, but it never will be as it was before. Max I love you and I will always love you, nothing will ever be the same without you. I don’t have words but only a big pain inside me and i want be close to the family, the boyfriend, the friends and all the people that always loved him .
Forever yours, Alessio
