Awesome Tapes From Africa continues to do no wrong.

Keyboardist Hailu Mergia has become a cult icon over the last few years earning new fans (and a few major remixes) thanks to the reissue work from Awesome Tapes From Africa. Now, another one of his albums has been unearthed for its first ever vinyl release.

Mergia’s third album, Wede Harer Guzo, was recorded in 1978 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and released only on cassette. To call it a rarity would be an understatement, as the label explain on Facebook, this isn’t even available on Discogs.

It’s hard not to be excited, the last time the label handled one of Mergia’s albums it ended up being one of our favorite reissues of the year.

The release will come in a double LP set and can be pre-ordered now. No audio is available, but you can revisit one of Mergia’s previous pieces for an idea of the delights in store.
