Pioneer DJ’s music management system gets an upgrade.

Pioneer DJ has launched version 5.0 of its Rekordbox music management software alongside a new DJ controller, the DDJ-XP1.

Available now as a free download from Pioneer DJ, Rekordbox 5.0 promises a “more stable, responsive performance” and adds better library management alongside USB/SD export features.

It also features a “more powerful” track analysis algorithm and a new visual interface, which the company says makes it easier to take in information like playing status.

The most significant update to Rekordbox 5.0 however, is the ability to insert your USB drive or SD card into another computer and use your own library. If you lose your computer, you can easily restore your library using the same method.

Pioneer DJ today also announced the DDJ-XP1 DJ controller for Rekordbox DJ, the performance version of the widely-used software. The 32-pad controller, which looks a little like two NI Maschines bolted together, also has track select and loop controls alongside two touch strips for triggering effects. It’s released later in September and costs $249.
