Apple Music launches in China for a fraction of the price

By , Oct 1 2015

Apple Music has arrived in China.

Adding a billion people to its potential market, Apple has today made the music subscription service available to Chinese users, along with iTunes Movies and iBooks – and it’s far cheaper.

Subscribers will be offered a three-month free trial, after which Apple Music will cost 10 yuan ($1.57) per month. That’s cheaper than India’s Apple Music price of 120 rupees ($1.83) per month.

UK users pay the most for Apple Music, stumping up £9.99 ($15.16) a month, compared to $9.99 in the US.

“Customers in China love the App Store and have made it our largest market in the world for app downloads,” said Apple’s Eddy Cue, who said that a “local team of experts” will help curate content for China.

For many early adopters, the free trial period has now ended – here’s how to turn off the subscription auto-renew. [via CNN]
