Mass hysteria!

Bill Murray is turning his attention to music again with a classical album due to arrive in August.

As The New York Times reports, the iconic actor is working with cellist Jan Vogler on a new project titled New Worlds, in which he sings and performs literary readings over chamber music performed by an ensemble that also includes Murray’s wife Mira Wang on violin.

Some of the readings will be taken from literary classics by Walt Whitman and Ernest Hemingway, while Murray will also sings pieces from musicals like West Side Story.

New Worlds is centered around “themes of American history and identity,” with the ensemble comprising members from the US, China, East Germany and Venezuela. Murray has described the project as “the collision of America and Europe,” explaining that the group hail from four different continents.

“And when the continents come together, the music moves right across the peninsulas from one to the other. It’s just a short journey from one continent to the other,” he told the New York Times.

New Worlds will premiere at the Festival Napa Valley in California on July 20, with a North American tour set to follow. Murray and Vogler will also perform at Carnegie Hall in New York in October. Watch a trailer for the upcoming live shows.

This isn’t the first time that Murray has flexed his singing chops. The beloved comedian recently joined forces with former The Late Show bandleader Paul Shaffer on his new single ‘Happy Street’, which is getting a vinyl release for Record Store Day this year. Murray also performed festive songs with Miley Cyrus, George Clooney and Shaffer on his 2015 Netflix special A Very Murray Christmas.
