James Lavelle unveils Meltdown line-up with ESG, Goldie, Neneh Cherry, DJ Harvey and more

The Mo’ Wax boss takes his turn curating the Southbank bonanza.

James Lavelle has unveiled his handpicked line-up for this year’s Meltdown festival.

The 10-day event at London’s Southbank Centre will host gigs by original punk funkers ESG, pioneering disco selector DJ Harvey and Orange Juice’s Edwyn Collins, plus Goldie will perform 1994’s Timeless with the Heritage Orchestra.

Also on the bill are gravel-voiced QOTSA affiliate Mark Lanegan, Neneh Cherry (pictured) with her regular band Rocketnumbernine, Chrissie Hynde playing her first solo gig in five years and artist Jeremy Deller with his Acid Brass performance.

Lavelle himself will perform with UNKLE and there’ll be a screening of Jonathan Glazer’s Under The Skin with a live soundtrack from Mica Levi, plus Waltz With Bashir scored live by Max Richter and the Philharmonia Orchestra. See below for the rest.

Meltdown 2014 runs from June 13-22, with more events to be announced in the coming months. Tickets for the shows listed below will go on sale from April 1 for Southbank Centre members and April 3 for others.
