The collection of tracks built for the rave continues on from last year’s self-titled album.

Warp stalwart Clark has been exceptionally busy of late. As well as the Clark album that slipped out on Warp towards the end of last year, he recently offered a mix of Brian Eno oddities and a free EP that sampled Frank Ocean, Diana Ross, and Die Antwoord.

He’ll soon make a swift return to Warp with Flame Rave, a four-track EP that continues the “majestic explorations” laid out on his recent self-titled LP. As well as the psychedelic ‘Silver Sun’, there’s the memorably titled ‘To Live And Die In Grantham’, whose grinding riff apparently blew Clark’s amplifier, and alternate versions of two Clark album tracks.

“I started making these ravey tunes to play out at gigs, but they gathered a momentum and gradually formed this EP,” Clark says of the genesis of Flame Rave. “I came back to it again and again – it seemed to work in clubs but also as a sneaky, immersive headphone listen. I love the feel of an almost overwhelming percussive violence being suddenly flooded with heartache and melody. I find that dynamic exhilarating.”

You’ll be able to get your hands on Flame Rave on 12″ and digital formats on March 23, but in the meantime you can stream ‘Silver Sun’ below.
