The Four Tet-endorsed producer has made a new track available to stream.

Juk Juk’s ‘Winter Turn Spring’ – a lush piece of broken-beat to file alongside Mount Kimbie and Circle Traps – saw release on Four Tet’s Text label last September. Without much fanfare, Juk Juk (aka Caleb Waterman) has upped a new track, titled ‘Fall’, onto his Soundcloud – and it’s a cracker.

Those familiar with Juk Juk’s work will recognise the crisp breakbeat, but the soupy mass of tribal voices that shimmer throughout the track add a new dimension to his sound. Most compelling of all is the foghorn bassline, which sounds like tugboats passing by night. By turns airy and eerie, it falls somewhere between the stools marked ‘summer jam’ and ‘frosty electronica’ – not unlike the season invoked by its title.

‘Fall’ is actually the B side to the jazzier ‘Unwrap’, which centres around a warped Bon Iver sample. The single is scheduled for release in March on the freshly minted Nommos label; you can hear both tracks below.
