‘Ginger Gyal’ the title track from the new two-track digital EP by Affctns, a project of Chilean producer Daniel Klauser, may contain the nine-gazillionth sample of Aaliyah’s ‘Are You That Somebody’, but Klauser manages to make something original of the cliche, letting Timbaland’s clickety-clack mouth sounds bounce off of the thick slabs of P-Funk bass that appear in between its dusky keys. ‘Like You’, on the other hand, starts with a less-recognizable R&B snippet and opulent Legend of Zelda synths before lifting off with a sunnier keyboard riff.
