On the video for ‘Join My Militia,’ Mykki Blanco offers a rallying cry with snuff film aesthetics.

Hiphop has never seen anything like Mykki Blanco, a fact evident after experiencing her latest video. In a black bikini and smeared makeup, fumbling booze and cigarettes, Mykki Blanco is a stark figure, especially considering that she is the feminine presentation of one Michael D. Quattlebaum.

At about half the speed of the Brenmar-produced ‘Wavvy,‘ ‘Join My Militia’ will not be lighting up any dance floors. Mykki’s processed vocals (somewhere between Saul Williams and Lil Wayne at his most melodramatic) match the uneasiness of the shadowy clip in which she is on full display: pawing through the sand, dragging bodies, or creepily prostrate. Thankfully, this won’t be the last we see of Mykki Blanco.

Mykki Blanco & the Mutant Angels drops tomorrow on UNO and OH-WOW.
