Mogwai-approved post-hardcore outfit Envy will get the retrospective treatment in a huge new limited edition package.
Since 1992, the Tokyo combo have put out a string of emo-leaning post-rock LPs, often through Mogwai’s Rock Action label. The group are to have their back catalogue collected in a new box set – in fact, make that a shipping crate set. Invariable Will, Recurring Ebbs and Flows will arrive as a whopping 14xLP package, and will collect all of the band’s recorded output to date. That means a total of 95 songs, culled from the band’s studio LPs, singles, split releases and compilations, and freshly remastered for the occasion.
All of the band’s albums – From Here To Eternity (1998), All The Footprints You’ve Ever Left And The Fear Expecting Ahead (2001), A Dead Sinking Story (2003) Insomniac Doze (2006) and Recitation (2010) – will be represented. The package will also include a 100 minute DVD of previously unseen band footage, a 100 page photo/lyric book, and a DVD data disc featuring MP3 copies of all the songs.
Each disc will come in a full-colour jacket with specially commissioned artwork, and the complete set will arrive in a reflective metallic foil box (granted, not quite a fridge, but pretty hefty all the same). The edition will be strictly limited to 1000 boxes, and can be preordered for $160 here.
