Inspirational speech lives on.

Yesterday, London’s South Bank Centre hosted a day of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have A Dream’ speech. Described as an “open-air collision of words, music and film celebrating one of the greatest moments in modern history” the event included performances by a choir, producers and film-makers alongside spoken-word artists Hollie McNish, Salena Godden and Charlie Dark. The day’s events were rounded off by a rare appearance from the legendary The Last Poets, the group of poets and musicians that arose during the late 1960s.

The last performance of the day was titled Architects of our Republic. It featured all three spoken word artists taking to the stage alongside The Last Poets and musicians Dizraeli and Cate Ferris, backed by a specially commissioned choir. The performance has now been uploaded to YouTube in its entirety, and can be watched below.
