Against the Clock: Readers’ Contest

On FACT TV, we host a show called Against the Clock, where a producer has 10 minutes to make a track from scratch.

It’s one of the most popular features we run, but every episode there’s a comment from a reader who think they could do better. So, we figured, it’s time to see if you really can.

We’ve teamed up with our friends at Ableton for an Against the Clock readers’ competition, and since announcing last year we’ve been flooded with entries. It took a while, but eventually we got through them, and invited our five favourite entrants to take the 10 minute challenge. They were really, really good.

You can watch all five contestants – Vandelay, Ku Brick, Ben HayesAu Malu and Austin Edward – take the challenge on the below videos, then vote for your favourite in the poll below.

Update: Congratulations to Ben Hayes, who won with 46% of the vote! Au Malu came second, and Austin Edward came third.

The winner will take home a copy of Ableton Live 9 Suite (RRP £559), an eight-week online production course with Quantize Courses, with expert training coming from Ableton Certified Trainer Keith Mills (course value is £495 – for more info head here), a bundle of Ableton merch and their choice of instrument / pack to download from Ableton’s pack store.

Second and third place, meanwhile, will win a copy of Ableton Live Standard (RRP £339), a bundle of Ableton merch, and their choice of instrument / pack to download from Ableton’s pack store.

Voters – you have until midnight on Tuesday April 28. Vote away!
