Which of these is not like the others?
Sprite has long used hip-hop to push soda: the Coke subsidiary featured Kurtis Blow in an ad back in 1986, and their mid-90s “Obey Your Thirst” campaign focused on everyone from Pete Rock to Nas.
The company is getting back in the rap game, printing “inspirational” lyrics by New York rap legends Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., Rakim and Drake on their cans (which of these is not like the others?).
“Legacy means everything to me,” said Nas, apparently with no sense of irony. “When I wrote these lyrics, I never imagined my fans would someday have the opportunity to enjoy a can of Sprite and experience my art in a totally original way.”
Here’s the list of lyrics, followed by one of the original “Obey Your Thirst” ads.
