Backed by vital Detroit techno distributor Submerge.
Los Angeles techno producer Nomadico (aka DJ Dex) will inaugurate his Yaxteq imprint with a new four-tracker. The new label aims to draw parallels between UR’s Detroit roots and Nomadico’s own Los Angeles heritage.
The longtime Underground Resistance affiliate traveled to Detroit in 2002 to study techno at the headquarters of legendary Motor City techno distributor Submerge, working on classic UR tracks such as ‘Transition’.
According to the label, the new release “sums up 10 years of work with Underground Resistance and sets the tone for what is to follow on Yaxteq.”
Yaxteq 001 explores UR-like themes, with the opener ‘Resistance Is Not Futile’ containing the lyrics “we will not be clones, we will not be assimilated.” Another track, ‘Romero’s Echo’, pays tribute to the revered Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador.
Yaxteq 001 will be released in late summer. You can check out a teaser video below. [via RA]
