According to organisers, his short set was completely planned.

Organisers of Toronto’s Pan Am Games have issued a statement on Kanye West’s abrupt set at the event’s closing ceremony on July 26, which seemingly ended with the artist hurling his microphone into the air in frustration following a “technical error”.

While it was assumed that West had himself decided cut his set short, organisers have issued a statement that says he was only meant to perform for 13 minutes.

“While there was technical difficulty at the end due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, he rolled with it the way great artists do,” says the statement. “To imply that he he abruptly cut short his performance or that he was anything less than professional is incorrect. We could not have been more thrilled.”

Kanye was headlining a two-hour ceremony at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, which also featured Pitbull and Serena Ryder. It’s not the only bad luck he’s had on stage recently – comedian Lee Nelson managed to invade his Glastonbury headline set brandishing an Argos microphone. [via Billboard]
