The tour coincides with the show’s recent release on Netflix.
The original cast of the Steven Spielberg-produced Animaniacs, one of the smartest and funniest cartoons of the ’90s, are going on tour.
When they weren’t zinging Citizen Kane references and Hollywood-skewering in-jokes over kids’ heads, the show’s greatest moments were often the musical routines, from the hilarious (and some have argued inaccurate) geography lesson ‘Yakko’s World’, to the Gilbert & Sullivan spoofing ‘I Am the Very Model of a Cartoon Individual’.
The news came from Rob Paulsen, voice of the Groucho Marx-inspired Yakko, in an interview with the New York Times about the show’s recent streaming debut on Netflix. Paulsen will be joined by original cast members Jess Harnell as Wakko, and Tress MacNeille (of both Futurama and The Simpsons fame( as Dot.
No dates have been announced yet, but Paulsen has revealed they will be backed by a full orchestra – and they’ll be rewriting a more accurate version of that geography lesson, which you can revisit below.
