Online record store Juno Records has elected to close its editorial site.

Juno Plus, the editorial arm of online vinyl store Juno Records, has announced that it is to close after seven years.

Launched in 2009, the site published news, reviews, features and podcasts from across the electronic spectrum, often focusing on niche artists and vinyl-only releases. Over the years, the site’s podcast series has hosted mixes from DJs as diverse as Legowelt, Braiden, Hodge, Eclair Fifi, Xosar and Aïsha Devi.

In a statement posted to the site earlier today (September 16), Juno Plus editor-in-chief Tony Poland said: “After seven years of ‘always searching, never perching.’ our parent company and employers, Juno Records, have elected to put an end to Juno Plus.

“I’d like to think we are going out on top – and mercifully just before any serious consideration is given to another round of list season. What began as an experiment in SEO back in early 2009 has gradually mutated into a platform that we hope is respected by both our readership and the artists, labels and musicians we have dedicated our time and coverage to.

“It has been a pleasure to be given this platform to discuss the music we are passionate about in great detail, and with the occasionally irreverent tone.”

Artists from across the world of dance music including JD Twitch, Call Super and Nightwave paid tribute to the site on Twitter, with PAN’s Mat Dryhurst saying: “you contributed a whole lot to a whole lot”.
