Goldie – d’n’b figurehead, and producer of 1995’s touchstone Timeless – has notched up two decades in the game.
Pete Tong’s FFRR label, in association with Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint, will celebrate the producer’s big score with a new retrospective. The Alchemist: The Best Of Goldie 1992-2012 is the first full survey of Goldie’s career to date, and features material from across his canon spread over two discs, running from Timeless‘ ‘Angel’ through to ‘Terminator’. The compilation will also feature an exclusive new track, ‘Single Petal of A Rose’.
A third disc will compile a selection of Goldie remixes from the last two decades. Some (Bjork’s ‘Isobel’; Garbage’s ‘Milk’) are familiar; others (an Ed Sheeran remix) have had a little less time to earn their stripes. The disc also features remixes of Goldie’s work by other artists, including Armand Van Helden, Grooverider and dBridge.
Goldie certainly sounds cheery about the release: “Having SO many great tracks on this album reminds me of the great times this music has brought me”. It’s not the only Goldie retrospective of recent times: his visual art was showcased at a London gallery late last year.
The Alchemist: The Best Of Goldie 1992-2012 is due on March 11 on 3xCD and digital download.
